984runner which trutrac front

I maybe totally wrong but I've always been under the impression that if you want a locker on the front axle, you should go with something that can be turned on and off like an ARB or E-Locker. The reason being that a limited slip differential can cause loss of control in certain circumstances (wet or icy roads).

The Trutrac you bought will work in your 7.5" diff. The '95.5-'03 Tacos use reverse-cut gears so those are different than the '86-95 diffs. but the carrier remained exactly the same from '86 all the way up to '03 in the Tacos/pickups. In other words '95.5-'03 rings and pinions are different from '86-'95 R&Ps, but the carrier inside is identical. Here's some more info if you want to read up on it:

Sorry, I got confused there... There is NO LSD available for the front diff. When you asked if it was reverse-rotation, it threw me off and I wrote that the trutrac would work in your 7.5" diff. What I really mean is, the trutac that works in the rear 8" diffs of the "v6 up 2 95" also works in our 3rd gens because we have the same rear diff as the '88-95 v6 4Runners. Hope that makes sense. AFAIK, KZN185W posted the correct part # for the rear.

the part number i posted above is for the 7.5" front diff. the trutrac for the V6 8" rear diff is 913A321 http://www.eaton.com/EatonCom/Produc...trac/index.htm

Well, apparently They do make a Trutrac for the front according to Summit Racing:

It says it's for '88-04 Toyota 7.5" IFS diffs. and that would also jjive with the info from Erik's diffs in which he says the carriers/lockers for the earlier 7.5" diffs still work with the later 7.5"ers.

funny that the summitracing part number doesn't appear in the trutrac owner's manual EDIT: here's the link for the 3rd gen trutrac: http://www.summitracing.com/parts/DTL-911A342/

I have the Tru Trac. Works great. Really shines on sand, snow, ice. Do not listen to people who don't own one. If you tell me how you intend to use it I can share more with you about it.
