'98 4Runner SR-5 Fan clutch torque specs & HD water pump?
My '98 runs hot on low rpms but I can cool it off by knocking it into neutral and revving to 2/3.5K rpm to avoid overheating. It has become a real hassle so I need to take action before I crack a head. I replaced radiator and thermostat/all hoses when I got it about 4 mos ago. Per posts her I think the fan clutch is bad & am planning to replace. Any idea what the torque specs are for the fan clutch?
Also, although I am not leaking water, I am thinking to replace the water pump since I will already be "in there". Anyone recommend a particular brand? I want something HD if it is out there.
Many thanks!

Jac if you are going to be in there--you should do the timing belt also......
Torque values for the fan clutch--you should be fine with just tightening them down--firm but not Arnold tight.

As far as the torque spec it can probably be found in one of these FSM http://www.ncttora.com/fsm/index.html. But you'll have a hard time getting a torque wrench in there.

If you still want to do the water pump here's a writeup on doing it and the timing belt:
