'98 4runner lift, tire, wheel question(s)......specifics!
Hello All,
I've been reading up on and utilizing this site for research pertaining to my '98 4runner (4wd, auto, SR5, V6).
I just got done with my lift installation, here are the specifics: OME springs 881 in the front along with the OME N91S strut as well as a 3/4" toytec top plate spacer/stud kit (these are advertised as 3/4" but the ones I received were 1/2" thick I'm still trying to figure that out. Emails sent to Toyteclifts have not been replied to.....oh well).
On the back I've got the OME 890 springs with the N86 rear shocks.
I've also installed a 1" WabFab body lift.
I'm extremely happy with the results to this point but I'm ready to pull the trigger on a set of wheels/tires and I'm very unsure about clearances. I've done TONS of research here but I'm asking if any of you have anything similar to what I'm considering. I've read that the wheels need to be 4 to 4 1/2" backspaced.
Here's what I'm looking at getting (tomorrow afternoon likely hence the urgency).
Tires: Super Swamper 285 75 16. This site states that their diameter is nearly 34" (33.9) with a section width of 11.4 and a tread width of 9.4".

Wheels: Mickey Thompson 16x8 with 4" of backspacing.

I was just wondering if any of you had the same size tire/wheel/lift combination and if so would be willing to share your knowlege/experience with me. It would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks for your time, you all have a great work week!
Brian

That sounds like a great tire / wheel setup you are going with. You will fit fine with the 4" BS wheels. I've heard that a 4.5" BS requires a wheel spacer when you move to a larger tire (especially Swampers) in order to clear the UCA's but with a 4" you'll be groovy.
oh yeah, and where's the pics x2.

Thanks for the reply Full..........I'm going to try to make it down to pick up the tires/wheels this evening or maybe tomorrow.
I've had this vehicle four years or so and this is the first I've had any interest in modifying it to my liking. I'm looking forward to much more!
I'll try to figure out how to post photos after I get the wheels and tires mounted up.
Have a good afternoon!
