98 4runner high idle after TB cleaning
I installed an CAI today. I cleaned my MAF using MAF cleaner. I used carb cleaner in my TB. I now have a high idle, like around 1800-2000. I took it for a short drive and no change. What should I do next? Does it need some more drive time to relearn? Thanks

I had the same problem. I cleaned my TB and IAC and my idle was suddenly 1700rpm. My butterfly valve wasnt closing all the way but the dirt was providing a seal, so when I cleaned the valve, air would get past and would behave like i was pressing the throttle. I realized that I could manual close the valve and It would idle down but as soon as I pressed the throttle again it would get stuck in the position. so I put an extra throttle return spring and its perfect now. There is a thread that explains exactly whats happening. the valve is actually moving sideways and getting stuck. The way the other guy fixed it was by putting a washer on the valve axle to center the valve and it worked. here is a link https://www.yotatech.com/forums/f2/m.../#post52033152

Where is the IAC valve at? I replaced that hose and cleaned the throttle body while in there. I too am experiencing high idle. Want to go through a good process before doing the washer trick.
Any ideas on the washer size?
I'm thinking below will be my process:
1. Disconnect/reconnect the battery and see if that fixes it.
2. Check IAC
3. Washer trick

The washer i used was just big enough to slip over the rod. You may have to play with the thickness of it by filing it down to get the throttle valve positioned correctly in the bore. Very simple to do.

Can I do this with the TB still attached or will I have to pull it off?
