i have a 98 v6 4x4 sr5 with 190k on it, bought it with 168k, didn't think twice about the mileage.
Other than the occasional oil change I had my starter go out a few months after I got it and I needed a new battery.
Those have been my two "big" issues with it. I drive prob. 400 mi. a week on it mostly highway and right now getting between 18-20 mpg.
Anything else just ask, hope this helps him

that's nothing for a 4runner...I've heard of guys going over 300k with them. Just be sure to check that the timing belt has been changed, rear axle seals are in good condition, etc.
My 98 only has 63k on it but I am predicting that it'll last forever...never had any problems with it so far. *knock on wood*

My 96 just turned over to 266K
I replaced the starter, thats it.
what you failed to mention is the asking price.
No amount of miles are too high if the price is right.
and you;ve checked the CarFax?
Seller has maint records?
Everyone CLAIMS they changed the oil every 3000 miles, but hen you ask for maint receipts they cant produce them.
Its ok to buy without them, I bought mine wrecked, at an auction with 100K on it.
No receipts, no carfax, nothing. Didnt need the carfax, it clearly had been wrecked!
Mine has 266K and a salvage history, so its worthless as resale, but Ive been driving the wheels off of it for 8 years.
The front of the motor got mashed in the accident, and i needed the water pump cover, $420 at the stealership, I like to have never found one because all the salvage yards said "we dont sell parts off of a running engine"
Theonly way I found one as one salvage yard said they had sold n engine to a guy that never brought backhis old one for a core refund, and they gave me his #.
I called the guy and he still had the block, with a rather large hole in the side, seems his blonde girlfriend had somehow put it in lo range, and driver on the interstate.
Said she had called and told him the transmission was shifting strangly.
Anyway he said I could have anything I wanted off the block for $100, so I stripped it & got what I needed.

I bought a 98 runner 2wd in April 09. My new "work car" . It had 240k miles, tires, rear shocks were junk. Drivers seat ripped. Ran like crap... scanned the codes, tuned it up, new tires, new Jam system, new windshield. $500. Like ROundhouse say's "No amount of miles are too high if the price is right". getting 20 MPG avg. And my 06 MegaCab Larimie sits as I drive this Runner 100 miles a day back and forth to work
