97 5spd shifter problem

Hi, I'm Mason, and I drive a 1997 4runner 4WD with the 2.7L engine and 5spd transmission. I'm currently having problems with the shifter.

I read up about the 5spd shifter problem (http://www.brian894x4.com/Shifter.html) and I took mine apart. I found something wierd.

This is how it's suppose to look:

and this is how mine looks:

It looks like I'm missing a stud on one side. How should I go about this?

I just got off the phone with my local autowrecker, and they don't have any transmissions in stock to take this part from. What now?

I'm not sure if they can come out or not. I'll go check.

Neither one of those pictures are correct. You should have a flat rubber washer under a cup in there. The top pic shows what it looks like when the cup disintigrates. The shift tower is easy to replace. 4 bolts and it's done. You should be able to use the shift tower from any 89 and up R150 5 speed. This will, of course, take care of the missing pin.

Just reread your post and it appears I missed the 2.7 part, DOH! You have the "W" trans. Same idea though.
