97 4Runner no start issue...

Quick run down...Bought a 97 4runner cheap. It had a bad engine(threw a couple rods, but still ran...very poorly but ran). A few weeks later I bought a 98 4runner that had been wrecked, but had a good 100,000 mile engine. So I started the swap. Pulled both motors and transmissions. Got to work and finished the install yesterday. Topped off all of the fluids and checked and double checked all my connections. Inserted the key, turned to on posistion. All the dash lights come on and things look good. Turn to start...Nothing, no spin, no click, nothing.
Did some testing and probing, and realized the the starter relay wasnt clicking. I pulled it and it tested fine, but swapped it with a known good one. Still nothing. So I jumpered the #3 and #5 pin on the relay base and the truck started right up. I have determined that the starter relay is not getting the 12v from the ignition switch when the key is turned. Ive traced all the wires and physicaly checked all the fuses, and I cant find any culprits. Needless to say I am stumped as both of these trucks ran before replacement of the engine.
Anybody got any ideas. Thought I would come here and ask the experts. Thanks in advance.

Just an update...I got this problem figured out. Long story short...the engine harness from a 1997 4runner is different than that of a 1998 4runner. Looks identical and will plug in, in all the proper locations.
