97 4rnr rear window problem

The rear window on my 97 4rnr will not go down, and the rear wiper will not work. I thought I might have to reset something and tried to lower the rear winder with the key switch on the gate, but that doen't work either. The problem started after I replaced the battery. Any Ideas?

Thanks
Keith

have you tryed using the key in the back to open the window? make sure the wiper is properly seated on the holder. it is pretty common for the tailgate ecu to go bad. i had replaced mine once. and shortly after it failed yet again. i now just ran new wires to the motor and use a drill battery to operate it.

Yes, I did try to move the rear window with the key. No go. I have to find time to try jumping it. The bigger problem is not having a rear wiper in the winter weather.

check the wires inside the plastic cover, where the lift gate hinges, the wires inside are probably starting to crack and break, very common and easy fix

As it turns out, the problem was with the rear window switch in the liftgate. I was having problems with the battery draining over night, and the rear window and wiper not working. I used a test lead on the wires to the rear window motor, and found that the motor had a constant hot wire going to it. That was my battery drain. I found that the switch had gone bad and the motor was always trying to raise the rear window. I unplugged the switch, and now everything works fine. I just cant raise the rear window with the key switch in the liftgate. Simple fix, just had to get the time to look into it.
