[97 4-R] Power Steering Leak w/ Pictures

Hello,

The 3.4l V6, 1997 4runner sr5 has been parked outside for 2 days with a slow, constant drip of what appears to be oil, coming from the front. I removed the skid plate & found what I believe is the problem, a rusted up power steering hose from 12 years in our salty Montreal streets

This is what happens when you don't remove the front skid plate before having it oil treated every winter!!!

Finding an exact replacement part # is confusing. I'm using this website http://www.toyodiy.com/parts/p_U_199...MGKA_4503.html

Part goes for around $400 (ouch), however my brother (mechanic) assumes he can use a high pressure hose with some clamps to do the same thing for almost nothing (parts he has around his shop)

I would like to hear comments / questions. especially if anyone has experience with this!

Regards

Hey I've got a power steering leak on my 99 3.4 4runner... trying to pinpoint the leak now. it seems as if somehow its getting on the drive belt and flinging it everywhere, so its a hard one to pinpoint. I'm having trouble getting my skid plate off to check underneath, most of the looking i've been doing is from the top. how the heck do you get the skid plate off?
