96 tacoma 4wd issue
Recently i bought a 96 tacoma off our local drunk for dirt cheap, found out 4wd will not engage. Pulled tranny and transfer out to put clutch in, and checked all of my switches on tranny and transfer. While trans. was out, i pulled vacuum on actuator, and it locked up front wheels ok. But what I'm wondering is, are my switches on tranny in proper place, or did he swap another tranny in this thing. I only have one switch on t case at top by shifter on pass. side ( which i assumed was 4wd switch). On opposite side i have two blind plugs with no connectors ( i thought there was supposed to be a 4lo switch in one spot). Then my only other switch is on trans. pass. side right before tease. Also i figure it has to be a switch wiring ordeal, because when i shift to 4wd my reverse lights come on... so i got that goin for me. lol. The guy said he had a clutch put in it, bought i got one just in case, and dropped the trans. out to check, and i'd say someone was definitely into it. If anyone has a switch layout and wiring schematic, I'd really appreciate it!!

1 is a reverse switch and 1 is for the 4wd.
Try switching the plugs from one to the other.
