Just joined. Have skimmed this site for years. 15 years and 150K many memories on beloved 4Runner, automatic trans. I’m not engine or mechanically skilled. Thought it was better to keep as price of used cars going up. But last few years, don’t confirm my decision. Cat recently stolen out of it in parking garaged “ home.” It’s one thing after another. I hate to just donate to car donation agency. It runs. Intermittent Rpm surges over 50 mph. Initially got half hearted trans guesses. Recently trans specialists said not trans problem. All diagnostics were done simply by driving. Guessing. RPM issue often didn’t show up until after 200 miles of driving. Does this group have better suggestions for its next phase of life? Open ears.
