96-02 Black SR5 Flares, where to get?

for those of yall who have bought the OEM black SR5 flares (meaning they did not come on your 4Runner when bought), where did you find them? did you get lucky at a junk yard or what? adding these flares is something i want to do eventually, and paying 300-400 for non-OEM (bushwacker) flares is not a happy thought. i probably shouldve jumped on the ones that sean_at_TLT had a couple weeks ago, but too late now.

any suggestions or tips on where to find/buy these?

Well, it's actually more of a get lucky type of thing, unless you want to bow down and pay the dealer for 'em. I'd check your local junk yards as well as EBay and Craigslist.

I tried looking this up for you at 1sttoyotaparts.com and trdparts4u.com but am struggling to find the right flares. I bought the front mudflaps for the SR5 flares not too long ago and they were $50 shipped from 1sttoyotaparts.com and this was half of what the local stealership wanted. I have to think that the whole set w/o running boards will be very close to the price of the aftermarket Bushwacker or Xenon flares.

If you weren't going to paint them, I can see why you'd want to go OEM but if you were going to get them painted, the aftermarket may be your best bet. My two cents.

Well, I was lucky I came across a guy here on Yotatech that I got my set from. Brandsport has the real deal Toyota OEM for around $400:

Or you can go with a set from Bushwacker, they look nice too and they show you how all the different versions look on the 4Runner:

Lastly, Xenon makes a nice looking set as well

Wow, those are pricey. Here's the guy on Ebay that I've been eyeing for aftermarket flares.

Xenon:

most everything looks to be in the 3 and 4 hundreds. TRDParts4U has them for $386, not too much more than the aftermarkets.

i doubt i'd paint them body color. there has never been a monochromatic desert dune from factory and i cant decide if it would look good. but looking about Bob's and others' 4Runners, the black flares look fine against the desert dune.

Bob's does look good. I think most SR5's w/ the flares you want look good, BTW. It's just when I see a limited or newer SR5 with the bigger flares, it just looks waaay better to me. Makes the truck look much more aggressive.

All you have to do is look at bamachem's. His looks awesome with the limited flares and the monochrome scheme.

My 97 sr5 runner didnt come with fender flares and i bought OE kind from performance. They looked alright but didnt do that much once i put bigger tires on my truck. I went and got the bushwacker extend-a-fender flares and they look meaner and stick out futher to keep my tires from throwing so much on my truck.

Heres a couple pics of them.
