Question 95 Toyota 4 Runner will not go into 4 low...

Hello, I must say this is a killer site. I have a 95 4 Runner with the 3.0 & auto trans. When you go from 4 Hi to 4 Low it is not going into low range, it just stays in 4 high. The front end is pulling in low or high. Thank's for any info you can give me. I will definately be visiting this site on a regular basis.

Also.....

Wanted to add that I put it in 4 low and got under it, pulled the pin that connects the linkage to the transfer case and it felt as though it is in 4 low. There is no grinding or anything. I haven't had this thing long. But, I definately want to get low working. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated. Thank's, Mike

I had a problem with my front end pulling in either low or high on my 95 because after I got hit the bodyshop put one new tire on with my oplder ones and it was less worn. This small difference in size caused a decent pull in my front end when in 4 wheel drive. I avoided using 4wd until I got my new tires as to avoid binding anything up.

I had the same problem getting 4wd to engage and disengage (low and high) and when I got my new tires it solved this problem. Not sure if this is what is happening to you but it is one possible scenario

Thank's

I meant that the front end is engaging not pulling to one side. It just isn't going into low range. Thank's for the input.

How do you tell its in 4hi? Do you end up pushing the front wheels, or dragging the rear wheels?

When you go offroad in the mud if you gas it the front tires are throwing some chunks. The transfer case itself is just not going into low range. Thank's
