112K on my 95 (which is not covered by the recall), I had to replace the cam seal about four months ago. Other than that shes been great, and I recently drove her from Nebraska to AZ.

I bought my 95 with 30K. It now has 130K. It was not covered by the recall. I have a slight leak -- not enough to be concerned about yet.

Hello

1995 3vze 4runner 181k still original gasket, but I THINK it just started to leak antifreeze into the cylinders, it goes someplace without any leaks ever

Mine is at currently at 122K with no head gasket problem. However I'm dropping a new engine it this month anyway.

Anthony, I've had to have mine replaced twice. Once shortly after I got the vehicle, around 60K miles. A second time under recall, around 106K. The second time worked out well because the value cover gasket was leaking oil slowly on the engine, which made for smelly rides but the recall gave me an excuse to fix it with the recall covering most of the labor.

Thanks for sharing.....
My truck was built in Jan of 95 and it's not cover under the recall. I wonder when did they cut it off, when did they change the gasket on the engine building phase.
Is there anyone with late 94 that's not part of the recall?
My truck is fine so far but It's hard to believe that my truck is not cover because it was built in Jan 95.

Toyota also recall the 96 for Head Gasket which leaves me to wonder why they use the defective HG in 96 but not 95?

I don't know when does one expect the head gasket to leak as part of wear and tare and when it's the manufacture defect. I ran into someone with a 95 and he said he had to replace it at 85K and Toyota didn't cover it.

??? Even if you have changed the head gasket is there a big possibility of it going out again??? Or did they change the head gasket design to remedy the prob.?

as i posted earlier i have a '95 (april manufacture date iirc) not covered by the recall. toyota customer care claims i got a good gasket
had it start leaking last june at 85k. toyota told me it "wore out"
did no good how many times i asked them to explain to me how a gasket wears out. and if i indeed did get a "good" gasket, why did it fail at 85k?
dealer is an old neighbor so he graciously met me 50/50.

Apparently, late 94 and early 95 models had the gasket 'redesigned', can't remember where I read this, or how it's changed exactly. I'm slightly hestitant to have it done from all the horror stories, and the bolts being 'stretched' and not re-sealing properly. I'm thinking it might end up making the situation worse, leaving me in a situation 50K down the road with a blown engine and Toyota sayng 'sorry, we fixed that problem'... (i know, worse possible scenario) really hoping it doesn't happen.

Wishing now that I blew the engine and just got a freebie from Toyota under the recall.
