880/906 Today!

Good question Ron.
I will soon be putting on 881 in the front and was not aware of the rubbing issue until you brought it up. I was going with 267/75/16 but from your experience, its rubbing. So I am wondering if I should go with 881 and some sort of a small spacer to level out the rig.

a 2000 may be different than a 99

If you run flares you may not need to run the mudflaps.
I would try to steer you away from spacers if you offroad at all, I have read they stiffen the ride and eventually deteriorate the springs response.
However others are quite happy with them.... opinions vary....

Its all on many threads regarding the OME springs. From what I recall the 880 and 881's are the same spring rate and different height. Or vice versa
Not sure why you would be rubbing with the 881's up front. As I too have the Nitto TG's 265/75/16 and I too added some mudflaps (flexible ones from 1st gen), with Ltd flares and I have not rubbed yet.
PLenty of room:

Since I will be going up to 265/75/16 when the time comes, that's good news.
So which coils are more comfortable for on-road manners since that's what I see most often.
Since the height for both the 880 and 881 are the same, I wonder what would be the best option. I know 880 is light load and the 881 is the heavy load.

thanks for picture Godzilla but plenty of room?
Looks to be half an inch or so from tire to mudflap. Pictures can be misleading-is it more?
How does it measure up when the front end is packed into the wheelwell? and the steering wheel cranked all the way to one side or the other?
I would guess your Limited flares are catching most of the road spray-again-as stated- I have no flares. My rub is at the inner part of the mudflap where it covers the seam (pinch weld I think it is referred to) I do like those flexible mudflaps you are running-are you saying those are Toyota flaps? Could we get a part number if available?
2000t4raks-you have it right 880 light load, 881 slightly more front end weight, 882s even more up front weight, like bumper and winch and hi lift jack. And because you are a Limited your flares will cover you for most road spray.

About 2 inches to the flare.

I never stop on the trail when in those situations to pull out a tape measure. But I havent felt any rub or resistance

Nope, Ltd flares still chuck crap. Thats why I added mudflaps and 3m fender protection

Like I said from a first gen 4runner I think. I have no part number, since I bought them used.

thanks Godzilla for direct responses. I am going to look around a bit to try to find those front mudflaps, those may solve most of my issues. Appreciate that rear view shot very much and admire you guys who can easily do the photos direct to the forum
I can spend an hour putzing with Photobucket-it just is not intuitive to me.
Not sure why I typed that "don't know about 880s up front" I must have been under anesthesia (on drugs spelled correctly), I recall now how I debated 880s or 881s for my front springs. 882s never really came into play.
good to have you guys around to talk this stuff out. So many options out there....
Godzilla that is a fine looking ride with the color matching bumpers and fender flares, many of us envy that clean and coordinated look. Yours is one of the best out there no doubt.
And I like that rear quarter panel reflector -I think it is.

I think I may have the info on the flaps (year) in my inbox somewhere. Also I have some more pics around here somewhere on about how the flaps are mounted. I'll try and dig them up.
Thanks for the compliments Ron.
its tough (though some have) to make a 3rd gen not look good!

I cant find the year, but I thought it was an 88 4Runner. Anyways they look like this. Letters are usually black but I painted them.ha.I just used the original screw holes from the flares and one more that I improvised with.
#32
zilla you painted the letters. that says it all my man.
You are about 1000 posts more dedicated than me sir. wait I got to find some emoticons
"I am not worthy I am not worthy"
sure you Canadians can find this stuff laying around the ice floes-but do you think I can honestly find a set of these down here ? they barely make stuff for my 99 anymore..
wait-- cutting some cheese for my whine-we got the Japan connection!

hey godzilla, sorry i started the "lets bombard zilla with questions" segment of this thread. thanks for the measurements. i think it was 2000 that was asking about rubbing tires, i have a 99 4runner that is same trim package as zilla's but that dark green color, and mine is the 2wd version, so if anything, it's not as high. it is 100% stock except for 265/75/16 dunlop a/t radial rovers. it has rarely been offroad and nothing to difficult, but no rubbing at full steering lock. stock tires were 70 series. thanks for the info folks.

jeeze sorry everybody i did a terrible job of keeping up with this thread, and if there is still any interest, here are a few pictures of my newly lifted truck on Bridgestone 695s OME 880s with trim packers and 906s with the comfort shocks all around

I just got my 880's and 906's. One of the 880's is labled "A" the other is "B" The "A" spring is slightly higher than the "B". I'm assuming the the "A" is the drives side. Also I have a 5mm trim packer and two 10mm spacers.
Am I correct to assume the "A" spring is the drivers side?
Should I use the single 5mm trim packer on the drivers side?
Will the 10mm spacers make my butt hang low? Or will it just level me out?
Thanks for the help.
