88 4Runner Exhaust.......COMPLETED
Well I finally had the chance to take my rig to have the exhaust completed. I already had the header....which is 2.5". So from their I went down to a 2.25" free flow cat connected to a DynoMax Muffler....and then 2.25" out to a nice angle cut chrome tip.
Man I must say that it sounds like no other 4cyl I have ever heard. Its great....nice mellow but deep sound. NO RESONANCE inside at any speed. Its very subtle but unique, which I like. I have been turning heads ever since.
As far as performance gains....I did notice a slightly quicker reving engine....and better mid range tourque. Nothing earth shattering....but a definate inprovement. I think the stock air box is whats choking it now.....got to remedy that soon. May make my own setup, since the K&N for this year is only the pipe and filter. No shrouds or anything like the 2nd gens or later.....I can take a coat hanger and mold it to shape....have the muffler shop bend it up and slap a regular K&N Cone on the air meter.........simple.
