k so do these two cars have the same set up as each other? in terms of axles and puting lift kits on them. because im searching for a lift and every time i type 98 4runner lift kit it comes up with 85-89 lifts. anyone know?

 

'84-'85 are leaf springs all around, '86-'89 are t-bars up front with leafs in the rear. '90-'95 are t-bars up front, coils in the rear. 96+ are coils all around..
I believe the axles got a little wider as the generations progressed.

so basically no.

 

keep searching bud. 85 is leaf sprung 86-89 is leafs in the rear and IFS up front, and 95 is second gen, 96-98 is third gen...

Check out my google search, "98 4runner lift", not one reference saying 85-89.
