83 PU carb wiring question
Well, sometimes we do the unthinkable. I cut one side of my 4-wire connector to the carb off to replace it because it was broken and faulty. I then threw the one side away.... I did tape and write on the wires but it sat and now I can't read it. Does anyone have any idea which 4 wires connect to which? Carb side the connector reads (clockwise) Red; white; black; black. The four unknown wires are Black/thin yellow stripe; Black/thin yellow stripe; Yellow; Black. Do you think the two Black/thin yellow stripe wires matter between them where they go? Thanks in advance!

Welcome to the forum! The black and yellow wires should go to the same place, so it should not matter if they get mixed up. I am not positive, but that is what the wiring diagram shows. It seems that you should attach the black wires from the carburetor to the black/thin yellow line wires because they are the only ones in pairs on each connector. If I remember correctly, the red wire is fatter than the white one, so if either the black or yellow wire is fatter, attach it to that one. The white one is to the fuel cut solenoid, so it should be getting power when the ignition is on. If only one of the unknown wires has power, then it should go to the fuel cut solenoid.

my wires are sheathed, i had to cut the plug off to run the carb anyway(swapping a 22R into a 20R truck, no provisions for an electric choke or anything). red wire is your choke wire, the black wire coming from the solenoid is +, striped wire from it is -, and the bluish or black wire coming from the little mixture thing is controlled by the emissions computer...i just left it hanging on my truck.
