75 MPH Speed Warning Buzzer???

I bought a 1999 Canadian spec 4Runner LTD. It had the Canadian KPH instrument cluster. I then purchased a used US spec MPH instrument cluster. I sent both off to Southern Electronics to get the mileage legally converted. I then installed the US spec MPH cluster and now I have a buzzer going off when I drive 75mph and over.

I spoke to the local dealership (Fayetteville, AR.) and they have no idea if the issue is coming from the Canadian spec truck or US cluster or what. They said there is no buzzer associated with the US spec truck and MPH.

The buzzing sounds like it may be coming from the instrument cluster but it might actually be coming from the dash right below the instrument cluster.

I have not torn into the dash yet. I just got this truck back together and I just want to drive it...

I assume that I might just have to locate the buzzer and disable it if I can't find an actual procedure to deactivate it.

Thanks for any help..

Never heard anything on any Canadian toyota or any other vehicle for that matter. I say it's aftermarket or something.

(then again I've never had any 22re truck that fast)

My owners manual says something about a buzzer that lets you know if the 4wd is not engaging correctly, maybe that is malfunctioning ?

Talked to Canadian Toyota master mech. and he has never heard of it either. I

I'm just going to tear back into it and disable the source of the buzzing...plus get rid of the door buzzer.

Maybe it is a malfunction. The buzzing is not as loud as the door buzzer. It really is more of a beep beep than buzzing like the door.

That is actually possible. Although on mine it happens at ~60mph if I push the AWD button above that or I didn't let it engage before going above that.

My old 85 4runner used to do that when it was real cold out, it turned out to be the speedo cable wasnt all the way in. Im pretty sure the newer trucks dont have a cable to the cluster anymore but thats what it sounds like.
