Question 4th gen amp location?

Hey all,

Was looking to upgrade the speakers and possibly the head unit on my 4th gen (non-JBL). I'm also throwing around the idea of putting in an amp too but I'm not quite sure of where to put the sucker.
I was thinking of a couple spots

1) Under one of the seats, on top of or before the heating ducts.

2) In the rear cargo area where the JBL would be otherwise located.

Are any of these spots feasable with a moderately sized amp? Should I be concerned about heat dissipation if installed in the cargo area? Is there enough clearance under the seat for one?
Also open to any suggestions.

Thanks
Jon

PS. Hope you all had a Happy Thanksgiving

Jon-

If you want to go under one of the seats, I'd prob say put it under the passenger, especially if you have the electric driver adjustments, and seat warmers, etc...I didn't look @ your specific model.

Rear cargo would be the easiest, and under the rear seats would be fine too...it all really comes down to how large of an amp you are trying to find room for.

I wouldn't get too concerned with heat unless you have intentions of running some huge amps...but that doesn't sound like the case anyway. Good Luck.

Thanks for confirmation Billy!

I think you just helped push me over to "Buy Mode" now. Just have to finish narrowing down my options, and tell a few relatives not to get their hopes too high on their Christmas presents (j/k).

I'll get around to doing it after I recover from the holidays, when I can touch the "Me list" again. In the mean time, now, I can better plan out the setup.

Definitely post it up once it gets done (gimmie a few months though)

Thanks again.

I initially had my map located in the passenger cargo hold area (cut out the plastic and took apart the back portion so it'll fit.

I eventually just moved it under the passenger seat because I am now using the back pocket space to store junk (first aid, flares, air compressor hose, gloves, etc etc you get the picture)

The passenger seat location will be the easiest to place and wiring to that location will be very easy as well.

Good luck!

Yeah, I'm leaning toward the under seat location too because I already got a few things in the cargo area.

Good to know somebody else has put there.

When you mounted it under there, were the heating ducts much of a problem?
