4th Gen. 4.7L K&N Filtercharger

First of all sorry guys and gals for not having pix. I will post them up as soon as I take some. I forgot my camera and my girls pad. If you guys need some quick I can take some with my phone. Just let me know.

The kit arrived last Friday while I was out of town and installed it Wed. morning.

First off the kit does not have a C.A.R.B. approval yet. They are waiting to get this before they release the product. This is usially the process that takes the longest. I was told I will be sent the label as soon as it comes in.

The instructions were good. You definetly have to use the diagram during the install to get an idea of where everything goes. Sometimes the black and whit pictures do not help. Install took about 45 minutes with 2 of us doing the install.

The kit comes with everything, cone filter, new hoses, clamps, powder coated heat shield/open air box, and an ABS tube.

Down to the nitty gritty. Sound inside and out is very noticable, the truck has a mean growl when you step on it. It is intrusive if you drive aggresive. However if you drive normal you only hear it a little. The butt dyno is extremely happy. After a couple of days of driving I feel the computer has re-adjusted. The throttle response is crisper.

I will try and get dyno sheets from K&N for you guys. I am still waiting for the pre-filter to come in for when I go off-road. I know this will restrict the air flow, but who wants all that dust to hit the filter.

All in all I give this kit a big thumbs up. The quality is superb, the fit and finish is awesome. Basically the things you would expect from a respected company.

I will try and get pictures up soon. Sorry I have no install pictures, just the end product.

Sorry about the pix. They are from my camera phone. As soon as it stops raining and I get my digital back from my g/f I'll post some good pix. This will have to do for now.

Finally somebody that thinks ahead! Looks good. Does the ABS "heat blocker pan" have drain holes in it? I would hate for that to fill up with water and have that big V8 take sip...

The shield looks like it is powdercoated alluminium. The shield is open on the bottom as well, I don't think water will be an issue unless your sitting in the stuff.

Good Times,

Thanks.

I got an e-mail from them (SAWS)a couple of months ago, they said that they are working on it.

Can't wait to see the Downey system.

yeah you can say that again.... I'm debating on a 2nd car right now!

Can't decide between a fj40, 3rd gen 4runner, mr2, or a civic to build....

arg.... maybe i should just focus on 1 vehicle first huh! hehe ...

would be nice to get the book up though.... all my hook ups from back in the day are all expired :/
