yeah, and as "ravishing" as the rav4 is, i think it'd be better to keep this a 4runners only club. all 4x4s is too low a context for a group.

I've spoken to a few friends regarding assistance with web design for a Virginia Chapter to see what resources I might have access to. I'm also making a list of VA 4Runner owners on this board and will send PM to inquire if they have any web design expertise to hopefully make this a reality.

As far as I know! I've got to do some homework beforehand and figure out how some of the other clubs are organized, but I think we can get alot of details worked out. I may try to post some sort of agenda today with points to consider.

Hey Robert,

Eventually we hope this will turn into an international organization, so there is no limit to who can be a member, as long as you own a 'runner. What we've yet to figure out is what to do about members from states who do not have an official state chapter organized.

Whoa! When did you make those?

I like them alot, but I think I'd prefer if they didn't say "Colorado Chapter" through what I think is the initials CO. It just looks a bit cluttered with the words on top of the letters.

I think the state abbreviation would say it all!

Nice work!

Agreed. Can you make one with just the state abbreviation (here's a thought - why is abbreviation such a long word? anyway...)? I'd like to see how that looks.

As for how he made them, I think that's just a photochop job.

Oh for people w/o a state chapter, my vote is they just get membership in the main organization. They'd pay the same dues, and if their state ever formed one then their membership could just be moved to that one. If it only takes 5 people in a state to get a chapter going though, I don't think it'd be that hard, especially if they got discounts through local dealerships or whatever.

It'd also be cool to have something like the '4ROC Network' - like say I'm wheeling in Washington or something - I can, being a card carrying member of the CO chapter, go to whatever Toy shop there honors 4ROC-WA members and get the same discount if I break something. Could even expand that into members willing to help others (i.e. I'm wheeling out there and get stuck / breakdown / etc)... That way we'd have our own groups but would benefit as a whole. What do you think?

Sounds good to me- the main problem with that (non-chapter members contributing to main organization) is what exactly the main organization will be? Initially, I was thinking that we would have a bunch of affiliated state chapters. However, if we have a true national organization, we've got to have both chapter leaders, and national leaders (ie. pres, vice pres, treasurer, etc), plus bank accounts for national dues, etc. Not a trivial task to say the least. Until this thing got off the ground, people might just pay for a generic sticker from whichever state chapter is closest to them, and a certain percentage of all dues paid (whether from state chapters or orphan members) would go towards maintaining the main 4ROC website.

Yeah I see what you're saying... add this to the list of things to talk about tomorrow.

I think there will need to be a central point somewhere wouldn't there? Otherwise what are you going to be a chapter of?

As far as a bank account ... form it as a basic LLC, the account is pretty simple. It would certainly make keeping track of where the money goes easier for whoever gets suckered (err, I mean voted) into doing it.

Still thinking about this. It makes sense in my head, I just need to get it out in a way that will to the rest of you.

That's the only thing that worries me about the club- everybody wants the sticker, but the bottom line is- how many are going to share in the dirty work?

FWIW guys, we're not going to get 4roc.com. It has been registered since Apr 2001, I think by one of those companies that likes to sell them to you at a higher price.

4roc.net and 4roc.org are still available - $12 a year if you register through inic.org. "4Runner Owners Club Network - www.4roc.net"? That sounds kinda cool for a website.

Denver Bike Guy: Dont worry, I have yet to purchase a domain name. Right now the [NC]4ROC website is just http://66.129.122.172 . I think we are going to try to buy the domain name of 4ROC.com from whoever currently owns it and if not, then we'll have to settle with something else for now. All of the links and the 4ROC logo that I have on the top of the screen can be changed to www.4ROC.net at a later date if needed.

For more info on the 4ROC website and our options for it, follow this link: https://www.yotatech.com/forums/show...threadid=12406

BTW, what does FWIW mean?
