4-Runner Rear Window INOP!

Hey Gang,

The rear window on my 1995 SR5 4Runner just stopped working....both the rear door key switch and the front console rocker switch are 'dead'....no movement in the window.....

Is there a fuse for this system, if so, where the heck is it???

I pulled the interior panel, and it is no help, all the connections are fine, and I don't have anyone to hit the switch with me in there to check for voltage.

Ideas???

THX

You're probably already past this, but the windshield wiper might not be up all the way. That got me when I first got my runner.

Got me as well, kicked my butt for about 2 days before I figured it out.

The fuse is easy to check. On the 94, it's located right in front of the driver side door. There is a cluster of fuses numbered like this:

1 2 3
4 5 6
7 8 9

Number 4 should be for the window.

it may be that your motor is going dead.... does it make any sounds at all?..... is there at least a noticeable power surge when you turn the key (like have headlights on, and turn key to window and see if there is any type of power drain on headlights as you turn key)..... if there is power going to the motor and it is not turning, then most likely the motors is gone or going bad.....

if you have the interior tailgate panels off and you're in the rear cargo area, you can try to get it going again by tapping the motor gently with a hammer while someone is turning the key on the outside .... basically, the motor may for whatever reason jammed and you're just trying to jumpstart it again and get it moving.... once you get the window open, you can have easier access to get it fixed properly....

i had this dilemna last year and it was finally solved by replacing the rear motor..... i tried unsuccessfully to change the relays.... this did not help me.... good luck
