3rz computer reflash
i have been looking into modifying the 3rz in my tacoma, i am wanting to put new pistons, larger valves different springs, headers, intake and if i can i would even like to advance the timing a bit but in doing all this will i need to adjust factory perameters in the computer? has anyone done mods like this before?

if im not mistaken the only way to change timing on these is an adjustable cam gear from LCE

well one time i scaned the obd2 system for a check engine light, i got into a menu that showed all the perameters from timing to exact temperature and rpm. now i am not sure if i could adjust them from there i was in highschool auto shop and i i just purchased the truck so i did not investigate.

Hey dude, no point doing all that, buy the KO racing (www.koracing.net) turbo kit and make more power at 4 psi than you will with all those mods.
there is LOTS of info on customtacos.com about boosting 2rz/3rz's... it's alot chepaer than tearing apart the whole motor.
Also, you cant flash a 3rz ECU, you need a piggyback computer (like a MAPECU2) to tune it (as well as wideband sensor, etc)

a turbo would work and i know these motors make crazy power off stock set up and 4 pounds of boost, although i am looking into desert racing and the class i would enter in is a NA class so i want to leave the boost for my next project..... a drifting taco.
