Which 3rd Gens Have Factory Lockers?

Just test drove a 2000 4Runner Limited. Checked before I went out there and the salesman told me it had a locker. Nope, no locker. He told me it was only offered on 2wd. I told him it was offered on 4wd.

Am I mistaken or was it offered 96-2000 3rd gens?

He is mistaken. Typical uneducated (in regards to what they are selling) car salesman.

yep. that's about as true as what a salesman told me: the sport editions ONLY come in 2wd.
wow, i'm driving a 4runner that doesn't exist!

i thought it's 96-99 that has lockers. maybe 2000 too. the newer 3rd gen ones sure don't have em factory tho, like mine

It's a shame some salespeople don't have product knowledge and give out wrong information.

My 99 SR5 has a locker.

definitely 96-2000 that the lockers were offered in 4runners.
i think they are most common in Limiteds, however that is not to say you will only find one in a Limited. They came in various models, from base, SR5, and Limited

Thanks guys! Just wanted to make sure the old-timers disease wasn't kickin' in. I was disappointed when I opened that door and didn't see any locker switch. No problem though...Toy made thousands of them and there are more out there.

One of the salesmen was a former student...about 12 years ago.

By the way...My wife climbed into it and said "It's not as tall as our 4Runner." Of course I said, "well honey, if it's REALLY important to you, I can fix that!"

Would it be a bit premature to order OME's for a rig I don't own yet?
