3rd Gen. Revtek Owners
I want a bigger lift on my 4runner in order to clear 285 MT/R's and lately I have been looking into installing one of the Revtek lifts. I was hoping to get some opinions on this lift, just because I know that 3" is a lot of lift for my 4runner's IFS and I don't really want to screw anything up.
Also, how much lift did you guys end up with, front and rear. I am really hoping to end up with a level 4runner this time around, since my last lift left my back end sitting around an inch higher than the front.

I went with Daystar coil spacers 2.5 front and 3 rear but if I were to do it again I would go like 00runner did

So the Downey 3.5" coils end up giving about 2.5 to 3 inches of lift? I wouldn't mind getting a solid rear coil spring and just doing away completely with rear spacers.
Do the Downey springs sag much over time? Also, where is a good place to get them?
00Runner-- Was the 2.5 inches in the front before or after you installed the TMJ bumper??

The 2.5" in front was before I installed the TJM bumper, though I don't think it has changed much.
I bought the downey coils used so I'm not sure about the best place to get them. They will definately improve the performance of your truck over stock coils and spacers.

Alright thanks. I just checked the internet, and it looks like a new set of rear Downey coil springs is about $260!! I may look into the OME rear coil springs, just because I already have the OME shocks in the rear and they are supposed to work well together.
Anybody know what series of rear OME coils would give me about 2.5 to 3 inches of lift?? (rear tow package but stock bumper)

Well I started with a Revtek at the beginging but noticed the rear just was sagging more than the front, I ended up gettign OME rear the 891 (I do towing and haoul a few things in the rear) which I think made a perfect match to level the rear to the front.
Here the springs I added a few month after putting on the lift

I will say if I was to do it over again I go with a littel less lift up front they definatly cause more stress on the old CV I have since replaced both Axles to fix the leaky boots I think 3" it a little to much I would go with maybe Corfeed about 2 1/2" then go with the OME springs in the rear and toss in some dif drops for good measure. Less stress on CVs and the cost is about the same as the whole revtek kit. I will say the revtek kits comes complete with spaces front and rear and the Diff drop.
Look in the for sale section I know I see the spaces there for sale often.

Thanks for the input WT. So your CV's were leaking even with the diff drop installed?? I may look into getting those 891's, especially if that would level the front end. How stiff are the 891's, because I don't plan to do much towing or anything but I do want somewhere around 3" of lift in the rear.

And now you go and introduce a new drive angle you want them to work in. I don't think they are any harsher now than before with thee regular springs and spacers on there just sits right now if not slightly higher. I have heard different reports of the front springs being slightly lower on the 99+ models compared to the ealier 3rd gens but I never did do any real personal verification on this. Mines a 96 by the way.

Just out of curiosity, does wheeling put more stress on your CV's( I would think so but I'm just wondering)? I'm asking just because I don't plan on doing any extreme off-roading so I'm wondering if 3" in the front with a diff drop is still to much stress if I just keep my truck on the road for the most part.
Basically, all I am trying to do is clear 285s without a body lift. Right now, with 265/75/r16 BFG's, ground to fender through the center hub is only about 35.5". That measurement is with a little over an inch of lift in the front. How much more lift do I really need to clear 285's??
By the way, I did install the 2" Cornfed's up front, but they did not by any means give me 2" of lift and I know that I didn't leave anything out!!

2" Cornbreds will give you 2" of lift, Unless you started with the springs for the smaller tires and not the springs for the 16" wheels. That all matters, since they have different coils.
Wheeling will not add stress to your CV, SPAZ wheeling will. Spinning tires out of control and then suddely stopping when the grab traction, is the largest culprit.
Wheel smart and you'll be fine.
Spinning tires = broken parts.

I guess I will shoot Dave an e-mail then, because my 4runner came with the Limited 16" wheels and the 4x4 shocks. If I could get a true 2.5" in the front that would put me at about 37" without 285s and hopefully that would clear them.
bamachem- How much of a problem is the rubbing? Has it caused your tires to wear uneven or does it only occur every now and then?
