The air deflector and its mounts are aluminum. At worst, the black finish fades with time & sun exposure. I've refinished mine once in the 17 years that I've owned the truck.

The biggest dust offender inside the runner is the air vent under the drivers side rear quarter panel.
It's there to release cabin pressure to let the doors close. If you trailride.....that thing whafts dust into the truck. I covered mine years ago.

Wow, never thought about that! So, mainly block it if you are in super dusty or major offroading all the time?

That or make a new one with a thin sheet of something durable. I used a sheet of thin rubber, just have to get one wide/tall enough- and there are at least 2 styles of vent, the one I have is out of a newer 3rd gen...
this will likely include removal of the left bumper wing and at least partial removal of the left side interior cargo panel...should be easy enough to figure out if you have to remove the bumper wing

I added arrows to the top of the 'posts' when I cut the sheet, to hold the sheet in the vent

have you had any users report issues with color matching on cars that have been resprayed? i have an imperial jade mica and im afraid that if i buy this with the color matched paint, it will stick out like a sore thumb.

No I haven't, as long as it was the right color code. Your other choice is to choose the unpainted option and have it painted locally, but I've had no issues matching the that green to date.

We are still doing these custom spoilers and it's one of my best selling items for 96-02 4runners.
