3rd gen rear panel removal

I backed up into a big hedge and dented the area by the rear key hole on the hatch and can't seem to open up my hatch.... Anyone know the best way to pull off the interior rear panel so I can have a look? thx

ALT,

Welcome to the forum! This topic was discussed about a week ago. The person who figured it out even posted a pic, if I recall.

Search the term "rear panel" and also try "rear panel removal" and you will find your answer

Panel Removal
Get in the back of your Runner. Take off the small square panel around the strap with a screw driver. Get a 10 or 12mm (forgot) socket and take that bolt off along with the strap. Now put the screw driver in the opening and carefully but firmly pry the door panel toward you. That should remove at least one snap. Now just put your hand between the panel and the metal and pull back all the way around until all the snaps are off. Lastly, pull vertically on the panel and it comes off.

Phisherman, thx for the tip. I got everything off and fixed the hatch, but still have to go to the body shop to get the dent out. Guess it's a good time to get my Bushwackers painted too.
