3rd gen brake pad sugestions
I need to replace my 3rd gen 4runner brake pad 16" rim model. The only problome is that there is no autozone here so I cannot get the performance friction pads. I currently have the TRD pads on and like them, but they are 2 years old. They are ready to go. They served me well, they were paired off with my brembo rotors. And only now they show signs of wear. So Im looking for some new kick @$$ pads. I went online to tire rack and looked at their performance pad. Im looking at the Hawk heavy duty pads, the suv/ truck performance pads, and the satisfied break pads. Im looking for a basic performance pads that would be similar or even better. Please help me out, Im stuck in the middle of the pacific ocean, and don't have much acess to anything. Thanks guys and gals

Really, the stock pad are that decent? I wave always run upgraded pads on all my rides. I still have the stock pads, but I dont think they will perform as well as the aftermarket one. I plan on running 35" with 16x12 rims (now it 305/70/16 on 16x10 rims). Thats going to be some heavy stuff, I jsut want to make sure my brakes hold up under all that weight.

Im looking at the tundra upgrade in the future, but right now with my 33"s IM just going to stick with the highend pads and brembos. So I gotta dig up some new pads asap. Thanks

anyone rember the part number for the pads. they now have the listing for the 4runner PF pads. But I rember somthing about the land cruiser pads fitting. But is that for the 16" rim brake pads, or is that for the 15" ones?

AutoZone now carry pads for 4runner, I just got mine 2 weeks ago. I tried to get the same pads as for past 4 years but the guy told me that Part # changed. So he just pulled new part number based on a year/model of my truck. However the Life time warranty doesn't exist any longer, now it's 2 years since the first set was purchased.
Additional options:
About 2 month ago I had to change pads on my Lexus GS430 and decided to go with aftermarket AKEBONO ProACT Ultra Premium Ceramic Pad after reading many great reviews. They stop 100% better than originals even when cold, No dust, and squeak at all. I know I am going to get them next time for my Runner. The price is very reasonable too.
AKEBONO Part # ACT611 $54.79 from www.rockauto.com The PF pads now $44.99
I hope this can help.
