32x11.5 tires

OK I have been reading a lot of posts about tires. I have a 92 t4r with the 31x10.5 and need new tires. I am going to do the ome springs in the back and have heard that the 31x10.5 look small sfter this. I would like to go to the Bridgestone dueler A/T revos but they don't make them in the 32x11.5. so I have two options

1) find a different tire, but I do a lot of snow & mud driving, still need good road so a MT is out. The BFG i heard arn'e so good in snow & mud.

2) put 33" on. I still have the stock rims (so width might be a problem) an am concerned about the rubbing.

Any suggestions on other tires?

First off, I don't know of any all-terrain tire that is going to do good in mud. You could get some 33x10.50 if you want bigger, but not widder.

Even if you do mostly road, there are some mud tires that will wear good and give you plenty of miles. Plus they will also provide better traction in any offroad situation.

my problem is that I do a fair amount of travelling on ice & so I need the sipes. The BFG A/T is supposedly terrible on ice/snow and in the mud. I don't do a lot of mud bogging but on the trails I go on there are some mud pits you can't get around.

how about mt/r's? theyre good in all conditions, wear well, and look mean.

theyre not mud tires, but they do better than almost every a/t you can find.

2) Put 33x10.50R15 on! Width is not a problem, they don´t rub if you don´t use front mud flaps.

I still have the factory running boards on, so I am assuming I would have to take them off for the 33x10.5

I'm gonna second the 33x10.5's...I went with 32's and realized afterwards that there's plenty of room for the 33's.

Has anyone done the OME coils and kept the 31" tires - do they look too small?

I'd vote for the 33x10.5s too. You can get almost any tire siped (dunno about MTRs caus of the funky tread pattern)...you could go with the tried and true BFG M/T and sipe the centre lugs

Yeah, before I put on the 32's, I had the 31's with the OME suspension and they looked pretty small.

I put a 1.5 Downey HD coil lift on my 94 4runner and cranked the front t-bars just alittle and was able to EASILY fit 32x11.5 BFG muds and I left the runnings boards on as well....33x10.5s would fit good as well. Im using stock 15" Toyota alloys. I'd opt for the 33s, make sure before that you either have a strong engine or the right gearing though. Otherwise it will really be a big difference between your stockers and the 33s.

I do not know if Goodyear makes a 33x10.5 MTR, but if you do a quick search on their website you will find out quick. I think they only make it in the 12.5 version IIRC.

the BFGs are a better ALL around street/off-road tire, they wear much better than the Goodyears and will last longer if you do a good amount of street driving, they are a harder compound. I am on my second set and have been very happy with them...
I will say however the MTRs have a stronger sidewall and flex and grip better than the BFGs in the rocks, BFGs are better in mud though.

you can also run a 11.5-12.5 wide tire on the stock rims...

I have also. They are not a problem at all.

This is a picture of ´94 and no lift, 33x10.50R15 on stock alloys:

A selection of 33x10.50R15 tires is this:
-BFG All-Terrain
-BFG Mud-Terrain
-Dunlop Radial Rover RVXT
-Interco Super Swamper TSL Radial
-Interco TSL/Thornbird (bias ply)
-Interco TSL/Bogger (bias ply)
-Simex Jungle Trekker II (bias ply)

These are all I know.

They are great tires... I actually have them in the same size you want to get. However, the lugs are so agressive and tall, that I have run into all kinds of problems with rubbing. Here is a thread for you to check out regarding my prblems with the tires.
