Have you tried some of the local salvage yards? A friend was able to find a 3.4 throttle body to play with fairly cheap. I think he sent it off to get ported/etc... while retaining the original one so he could drive around.

I'm not sure how many 3G 4Runners are in salvage yards, though, or if the auto transmission is the same from 4Runner to Tacoma to T-100 of like year/engine. Would probably take some calling around, but maybe not impossible. You might also watch the papers to see if someone is selling or parting out a 4Runner or Tacoma and make an offer on the transmission. Haven't seen many of those being parted out recently, though.

In a worst case scenario (assuming you did not want to buy something off the internet/e-bay, etc...) you might check with a shop that rebuilds transmissions to see if they have a VB lying around (you never know). The only one that comes to mind now is Kalakaua Converter, but I'm sure there are more around (I'm assuming you are on Oahu).

Hope this helps,

Merlin

It may be a typo on your part, or I may have missed something above, but we're kinda' talking VB's here not TB's, and a "valve body" isn't the same as a "throttle body". The VB is a tranny part (which I figure you know from thee rest of your post).

As i think i said before, my numbers before alcohol were around 240 HP and 285 TQ to the rear wheels... I am getting headers in the upcomming month along with some bigger injectors and possibly a new fuel tuner...

Not that it helps my acceleration hopes, but a 3" lift is in the works.

Sorry for the confusion. I was just using the TB as an example of what you might be able to find in a salvage yard (we found one fairly cheap, got lucky). I know the valve body is probably going to be much harder to find, and like a poster above said, you'll probably need to pull and purchase the whole transmission, but you never know. Never hurts to try - if he can get one locally and only pay shipping to the company, it may be cheaper than buying one over the internet and having it shipped here, only to reship to the company.

Aloha,

Merlin

Thanks for the info Merlin. I will check into the local salvage yards. If they can't sell the tranny whole, they might consider parting it out.
