$3.00 precaution for those with aftermarket bumpers
After doing a little work this weekend I had a bit of a problem. During the course of the work I had to take off my TJM front bumper. Stupidly I let the front turn signal hang by the wire as I was working and one of them pulled the wiring out of the housing.
After running to Checker for a new electrical contact, I reassembled the housing. While I reassembled the housing, I carefully looped the wire to run along the socket side of the housing and gave it about 10 to 500 wraps of electrical tape so that in the future any force would first be against the wire and the housing instead of the relatively weaker soldered connections. If you have enough slack in your wiring I suggest doing this as repairing the socket is a PITA.
I tried zip tying it, but the socket on a TJM turn signal is a bit tapered and the zip tie was sliding off.
Oh yeah, I'm cheap so I elected to fix the problem. As I understand it, new turn signal assemblies from TJM are about $40.00...

Jeebus!
I guess I got lucky when mine did that the useless connectors they supplied popped off before the wire came out of the socket. I'm getting some of those waterproof connectors for my roof lights so I'll pick up an extra set for the TJM, Thanks for the look out and good idea!

I'll buy a set (of turn signals) whenever to have in the garage in case of busted plastic, but the wires pulling out was, I thought, fairly pissy design. When I tear the front end apart again, definitely some booted connectors.
