3.0 water leak??????

im still working on getting my 88 up and running. last night i dumped about 4 of the 11quarts in, i guess it settled into the radiator or whatever last night, so i started pouring the rest in today and i noticed a steady drip from between the bellhousing and engine block. it drained probably 2 quarts in 30 min. My only guess is a freeze plug, or worse a cracked block. but its wierd cause without the engine running how would the coolant get through the block. i know this truck has been sitting dead for quite a while before i bought it.does anyone have any pics of the back of a 3vz engine, out of the vehicle. casue im getting ready to pull the motor this afternoon and check it out.

You sure its leaking there and not leaking in another spot and flowing down there and then dripping off?

the only place that is wet is the bottom of the joint between the bellhousing and the engine. so its definalty coming from the back of the block.

There's at least one, maybe two freeze plugs on the back of the block. Can't see any other place that could leak between the tranny and the block if you are sure it's coming from there. Also, the water can reach the back of the block through the rad hose and then through the pump and into the block without the engine running.
