3.0 PCV valve replacement?
Hi, I bought a new PCV valve for my truck but I am not sure if it needs replaced and if it does HOW DO YOU GET THE DAMN THING OUT! it seems to be under the intake in the valve cover in a place that you cannot access without taking the entire intake off "I THINK"!!! How do you know if your valve it bad?????

It's a maintenance thing to do. Some people have done it. I elected to pay the dealer $40 to replace. It's well worth it considering the pain that it is to remove. Plus if any of that rubber grommet breaks and falls into the valve cover, they will be responsible.
Just my $.02

I'm pretty sure you have to yank the intake plenum to get at the thing. Might as well adjust the valves and change the valve cover gaskets at the same time...
Just a suggestion - (Or take it to the dealer and grab your ankles).

I changed mine with out pulling the intake but what a PITA it is....I had to unplug a bunch of the vacuum hoses on the passenger side to even attempt at getting it out. Took me 30 mins of trying to get it out of there.
I used some WD-40 around the base of it to attempt to loosen it up some. Even then it took a lot of doing. I ended up using some long nosed needle nose pliers + a long screw driver and a whole lot of cussing at the damn engineers that designed the PCV system on the 3.0
It's do-able but not fun.

I also did sort of like how romad said but I removed a black brace the comes from the manifold Im not sure the other part it is attached to, but I know it is in the way. It is also a good idea to have the rubber gromet incase. I sprayed some pb around it first and then took pliers and tied a wire to the pliers. I ran the wire up through the hoses. When I pulled, I pulled the wire as straight up as I could and pulled with the pliers. If you pull diagonal with the wire for some reason it wont come out.The hole job took me 15 min. I would never take it to the stealership for that.

AgRunner & Radrex have the right ideas. Pay someone else to do it or plan a long day to do it yourself. If yours has never been replaced (~16 years) then you probably can't get it out without destroying the grommet and/or taking off the valve cover so you can stand on it and use a pair of pliers to pull with all you've got, finally falling back into...Anyway, PITA says it all.
