3.0 Downey Headers Done and I ain't Makin' Torque

Hey guys,
I finished my headers and exhaust and in first gear that thing throws me back, but in second the RPMs shoot from about 2000 to 4500 and I ain't going anywhere. My buddy tells me that my clutch is probably shot. It's the original clutch and I am at 150K miles now so it's probably about time for it to go. I have a little oil on my bell housing so I am guessing that my rear main seal is leaking.

I plan on changing both. I was thinking of going with Marlin's clutch if mine is bad. The thing is, in every Manual that I have ever owned, when the clutch went out, I felt it slip and catch, slip and catch. This one never catches, it just takes it's sweet old time getting up to speed. In higher gears it's fine, but it's not pulling. Does this sound like he's right and my clutch is bad? If so.

I see a lot of stuff in here for changing the rear main seal for the 22RE, but not much for the 3.0. Pretty much the same? Just pull the tranny and the flywheel and it's right there? Just making sure that I don't need to pull the oil pan on the 3.0. Thanks

Yes, you have to drop the pan to get the rear seal. At least loosen the bolts.

It does sound like the clutch is slipping.

Get the TRD clutch and heavier flywheel for the 3.0 if they still make it. It makes takeoffs a lot better.

Put in the Ceramic Clutch from Marlin Crawler. I've got all kinds of response now!. Clutch started to squeak at engagement in first gear. I assume that this is the clutch and flywheel breaking in. It does not happen in any other gear. I am happy as hell with this setup for the power gain, but my truck is idling like crap. it "lopes" or surges in small increments continuously while idling. I can also feel this when the truck is in 2nd or 3rd gear and I am allowing the clutch to gradually slow itself down. It kinda starts bucking a little as if I shifted from second gear to fifth gear instead of third and the vehicle kicks. Anyone got any ideas?
