I know the 3.0 doesnt get much love. But I have to say that it is a good torque motor.

I'm with ya on this one.

 

Mine gave me great service. Had the HG recall done at 98,000 miles and recently sold it for well over high blue book with 153,000 trouble free miles. I give it a thumbs up.

 

I'm happy with mine, it refuses to die. 294,000 miles and it runs perfectly.

even with the slushbox tranny, mine still spins the tires off the line if the pavement is wet. When running good she'll put you into the seat through 1st. I like mine.

Yea, I love both of mine!! It's not the fastest thing in the world, but my five speed will get up and go!!

 

I didnt buy it for speed, i like to say that it has never let me down and I doubt it ever will. The 3.0 deserves respect.... respect!

 

Three cheers for my 3.0. I'm happy. Plus she has offered me a chance that others have not, a chance to work on her. I wouldn't have a changed her for anything.

The lack of power doesn,t bother me(no speeding tickets),its the gas mileage that hurts.

 

I miss my '90! I often towed up to (and beyond) her limit and she never gave me problems. Sold her with 205,000 miles to a friend and he has over 250,000 on her now. All I did of significance other than PM stuff was the HG... Great ride!!!

 

Just recently made a move to Virginia and was towing a 6x12 Uhaul trailer packed to the gills and still running 55 mph up Fancy Gap Mountain...for all of you that know this mountain its rather steep and long going up 77...she still pulled hard and I would let her rest on the downhill slopes...and now with 2 1/4" exhaust, hf cat and flowmaster she really opens up to me! I'm starting to see a side that I haven't saw before...with 220,000 miles! Everyone asks me...man why don't you sell that thing...everytime you turn around you are fixing something. I simply tell them...its all repairs of things that were meant to go out...if I were to buy another used chevy or ford then I would be making these repairs at 90,000 miles instead of 220,000!

 

Mine does it when it's dry too! My rebuilt tranny is tight as a....well you know. hehehe

 

You guys are funny. I'm thinking you must be driving a different 3.0L 3VZ-E than I do. Does the cliche, "4-cylinder power with V8 gas mileage" mean anything to you guys?

Reliable? Sure -- after you fix the head gasket issue. Minor flaw there...

Torque? That's true. But in other news...it sure is great fun having my tranny kick down into 4th gear on the slightest of inclines just to stay up to highway speeds.

Sorry, I'm a little bitter about the 3VZ-E. It has been about the worst engine I've ever owned in any vehicle.

As I've gotten a little older I've realized one thing...the speed and power is not where its at...its how slow ya are and experienced....even applies to other areas too

 

Don't forget that the 3.0 is a late 80's to mid 90's engine. I'd take the 3.0 over any other SUV engine during the same time period any day. As far as the cliche "4-cylinder power with V8 gas mileage", that will apply to the 3.4 in about 10 years as well. 10 to 15 years after that, they'll be saying the same thing about the current line of engines.

 

I like my 3.0 too good power once we rebuilt her good gas mileage too, I'd take my V6 over the 4cyl any day having driven both
