Sure it can be done, but you cant sit the motor that low in a 4wd, and then where the heck is the A/C going to fit. Come to looking at it, doesn't even look like it has cooling fans.

I am actually putting together a 7M conversion starter kit, but that is all it is. A starter kit. Custom mods will still be required.
with any project this intense some custom fabbing will always be needed. id never claim to have a kit that could address every issue all out of one box, but you can help take alot of the guess work out of it, thats our goal. Besides, anyone thats into working on thier truck enough to want to put a new engine in it should be willing to do a little cutting and welding. Id probably characterize what we are doing as similar to what you said , a starter kit, but hopefully a very nice and well put together one

that guy is running super high boost with a giant intercooler etc. we dont want to even touch stuff like that, once we get the engine in we can see how much room is in front for some thin electric fans, possibly a pusher out front if theres not enough room in front of the engine. i read a writeup on a 7M swap with a pusher fan and he said he only had problems in the desert with the AC running, definetly no deserts here in NC. it also doesnt look like he cut the radiator support out any, or am i mistaken?

That would be cool. Especially if you can supply bellhousings and modded oil pans and a plug and play harness. That would be a good starter kit.

Thanks, and happy fabbing.

I am going to try to find out if I can get the wire connects, and who to get them from. I will let you know what I find out, unless you have done the research already.

Yes SuperRunner has been very helpfull in the supra swap area..

super runner do you usually swap the motors into trucks with a 22re manual.. and use the NA 7m bellhousing? that is how the swap was done on my vehicle. i didn't do it myslef but i am now building it back up....

i'm going to experiment with heater ducting as intake hose.. i'm not sure if it expands under pressure but it shouldn't...

i wasn't aware that you could swap either motor 2jtz or the 7m with a IFS setup.. i thought the only guy that has done it on IFS took his front diff off.. and made it long travel 2WD.

as for AC i couldn't retain it.. i don't beleive. i would love to have it but i don't. there isn't room. it had one puller 2 pushers. well now i have an intercooler where the pushers where..

would they still be benificial on the outside of the intercooler? or would it impeed the air more than help?

3rd gens.. i don't see the reason to throw one of these bad boys in. i mean i do .. boost is the best but... that 3.4 has a SC that i think is more than capable.

nice to see the supra swaps are spreading like wildfire.. here i thought i'd be the only one in cali with one

maybe i'll start doing these around my parts.. motors are cheap nad close..

super runner where are you aT?

great thread.. nice BB find something new everyday

SuperRunner how exactly do you pass emissions? From my understanding you can't put an older engine into a newer vehicle.

Or am I making this up?

BTW, wasn't your Runner on Ebay recently? Did you sell it?

I have done mostly 22R with 5 speed, but have done a couple v6's. One with auto the other with a manual and custom bellhousing. With a 4 cyl 5 speed, yes, you use the 5M or 7M N/A bellhousing.

If you use a MKIV side mount intercooler, you can put that where the battery sits, and then have enough room for the condensor, and fans.

I am about 30 miles south of Salt Lake City utah.

Just take it to the Bureau of Air quailty, after you fail a standard emission test. As long as you have EGR valve, evap canister, and cat, and pass the sniffer test, you pass.

Have registered 4 conversions. 3 in utah county, 1 in SL county, and soon another in SL count.

Nope, didn't sell the runner, still have it..sorta. Parting it out, then will rebuild it next year. Maybe stick a 2JZGTE in that too.

just curious would you be interested in doing the supra swap for my 1991 4runner 3.0 automatic and how much would you charge turnkey?

Diesel swap

I think that a diesel swap kit would be ideal. Everything's the same on the w56 models and it's all bolt on. Plus Toyota doesent offer a diesel truck here in the states. I converted my 93 4x4 and have loved it!! 35-40 mpg and power out the a$$. I have people constantly asking me if theres a kit out there to do what I did and I always tell them no...

Depends on what you want done. Prices start around $3500, and goes up from there. Lost and lots of options, that is the advantage of having the option of a turbo.

Yes, as a matter a fact, I just got one of my 550cc injectors back. It locked up and needed to be rebuilt. This mod will allow 400+hp, and it only costs about $650-$700.

For what it's worth, I was yacking with the ORS guys and they made it sound like a complete 3.4 swap kit was going public within a week or so. That makes a lot more sense to me. It was said to include everything needed, that could be included, a list of things that could come off the shelf or at the yard and even the crossover to make the exhaust work. All you needed to do was add an engine and some time.

As far as interest, that seems to be a relative term. I am interested in marrying a 6' tall redhead, but getting a filter and five quarts of oil tomorrow is much more likely to occur.

It is good to think outside the box, but the gentleman who has done quite a few even thinks it to be an incomplete sort of proposition.

Cool sounds like a cool idea

got a couple of questions though
1. would we be limited to expensive premium go juice?
2. what about the brain box?
3. anybody thought about doing a diesel conversion?
thanks aviator
