What about if the connectors have come off the glass - anyone successfully repaired that?

I re-attached mine with solder, looked ugly but it stayed on.

did it work? Read about someone who had one that, but the defroster still didn't work...Didn't exactly inspire me to run out and do it!

Jus normal soldering? Do you have to preheat the glass or anything?

Yes, the defroster worked, and it still worked 2 years later when I sold it. As for how I can't exactly remember all the details. I think I heated the glass a bit and just kind of soldered around the edges. I don't know what kind of solder, it was some I found in my Dad's old toolbox.

i dont know if this helps but my 95 4runner is the same way. I hit the button and it lights up but it doesnt do anything it ramains frozen or fogged up. which brings me to my next point, the 2nd generation 4runner defrost system is a joke cause the front winshield is at too much of an angle so the hot air only gets to like half the window and by the time it gets to the other half you might as well be in hell cause its soo dang hot in the car!!! i dunno this is just how i feel i guess.

My runner, before i fixed the rear defrost, would light up the light, which meant all was good to the relay, however it wasnt supplying power to the window to defrost it. mine ended up being a bad ground and a loose wire connection to the window glass.

Oh yeah,

For clarification and for others who will encounter this...my panel light DID NOT (I think....I might me wrong on this...) light up until I fixed the black wire at the glass.

I DID do the continuity check on the element on the glass before the repair, it check good so I proceeded...

Yes, the search function worked like a champ!

Wes
