285's...LETS CLEAR THIS UP PLEASE!
Ok so there are 100,000 posts on "what lift to buy?" and "will these rub" etc. and I'm hoping to clear this up once and for all with one simple thread for upgrading your tires and suspension to held everyone with questions. If you are currently running 285's on your 3rd Gen, please post the following:
1) what lift kit you used, (shocks, spacers, coils, etc) in front and rear
2) did you have to do any trimming to prevent tire rub?
3) A picture of your ride if you have one
4) Are you happy with your combination?
I am hoping this will help those in the process of upgrading with some solid options and will hopefully eliminate more of the same repeat threads.

Tundra/OME lift, which is basicly the #7 from SonoranSteel. I didn't do the brake lines, bumstops, or panhard. The Tundra /OME is TRD tundra coils up front with Revtec spacers and stud kit from Wheelers offrroad and Tokico Trekmaster shocks. In the rear i've got the OME 890's with land cruiser shocks and a .5" topout spacer. 285 BFG's no rubbing. The was a little trimming with my old spacer lift on the inside of the running boards. That's it!

1) I used the OME 3" lift available from Toytec, with the 890 springs, and 16x10 pacer rims(knock off of the procomp rockcrawlers). Tires are 285/75 BFG All-Terrains
2) Yes, I had to take a sidegrinder to the front fenders.....but if you are riding on the road, you will be fine, just whenever you flex, the side getting compressed rubs.

4) AI am very happy with what I have right now. I still need to grind the fenders a little more, it still rubs, but the ride on/and offroad is really sturdy and strong feeling, like a truck, the way a 4runner is supposed to ride IMO.

Yes, I went with the Wheelers spacer kit with studs for $50. The kit through them is also steel, instead of plastic, not that it really matters. It was the cost that made me get it through them, because I also got the bushing kits for my swaybar and steering rack.

The kit listed underneath the OME section? I think that is it.

I'm getting 285 Wild Country TXR's installed on Friday, so unfortunately no pics yet. But, before I ordered them, the shop test fit a nearly bald 285 Nitto Terra Grappler on the front driver's side for me. The TG didn't rub anywhere: frame, upper a, running board or the front valance. With the TXR's, I expect to have to trim the front valance and running board slightly due to the extra tread (added height) of a new tire. Since they're slightly narrower than the TG, the upper a arm should be fine.
As far as a lift, I've got a Daystar 2.5" spacer lift up front with the LC's in the rear. I'll respond with pics and opinions after the tires are mounted.

Toytec 3" OME spring & shock lift with 3/8" spacers up front.
Running 305 Firestone Destination A/T's on Land Cruiser rims.
Had to trim the inner fender flare area of the front bumper about 3" with a rotozip. The inside of the front driver side tire rubs on the UCA at full extension.

I went with the OME lift from 4x4connection.com. I am using the 881 springs and the N91s struts up front and in the rear, I went with 890 springs and the N86 shocks. I installed the wheels and tires (285/75/16) even before I did the lift and had a little rubbing. I trimmed the pinch weld like everybody has done and that was about it. I think I want to do a 1" body lift in the future just for that little bit more of a lift. I will probably have to do the differential drop then to relieve the stress on my cv's. And yes, I'm very happy with the look and the performance.

Offset should play a role in this, are the LC wheels offset differently?
Since I dont off road its sounding like I might be able to go with a 285 size tire on my stock 99... just trim the pinch weld... ? Mall crawler all the way! I will be buying tires before a lift so I will report my findings when I try it..
