285's and 1" BL???

285's and 1" BL???
Ive come to the conclusion after hearing what a few of you had to say that with my suspension set up, 285's will fit but probably rub with any flex. So before I buy the new tires I jus wanted some opinions on how much a 1" BL will effect my 4runner. As far as handling and making body noises? And also going from 265's to 285's....how does that effect the over all performance, power and gas mileage? Is it drastic? And also just over all wear and tear on the vehicle going with the bigger tires? Thanks for any info guys

Use the search button and do an evening of reading on body lifts and suspension lifts. A 1" nor a 2" body lift is a solution to running 285s permanently. I only ran them temporarily until I put on my 3" of suspension lift.

On-road vs. off-road is the key here. Street driving, no problem...off-road wheeling...not just a dirt road...you'll have issues w/ no body lift.

FilthyRich....when you went to 285's did it kill your power a whole lot?? I noticed just a little diffrence in power when I went from 31" to 32". Did going to 33" make a huge diff.? or is it all worth it for the look :o)

with 2- 2.5" of suspension lift you will not have any problems running 285's on road or off road.
I have yet to install my 1" RB and have been doing plenty of hard off-roading...Black bear, Imogene, Ophir Pass and have not rubbed once.
If you are planning some serious articulation or rock navigating you will run into rubbing when you stuff the tire without question. The 1" RB will fix that and I plan to do it this summer, in my opinion and talking with others it is the correct way to run and wheel the 285's without issue...

edit ps:the drop in power has not effected my ability to pass and navigate the steep hills of the san juans, as far as gas mileage is concerned, well if i were concerned i wouldn't have started modin'...sitting pretty at 15 mph

Just out of curosity, mainly because I am considering the 285's on my rig....
Can you run these with the stock wheels? Or am I better off staying with the 265/75/16's and stock wheels?
I don't plan on doing any serious rockin, just mainly dirt roads, mud, and sand. I would like to keep the stock wheels if at all possible.
Lastly, I think I found a great deal on the Revo's for $535 mounted/taxed/road hazzard warranty from Costco. 265/75/16 of course. But the guy says these are the passenger versions, not the LT. He also said the LT's are load rated for the F250 or similar and would be too much for the runner....
Is he right? or am I getting the WRONG tires?

You can run 285's with 2-2.5" suspension lift on the street. But, offroad you're going to need to grind and cut a little on the back lip of the front fenderwells and also pound the pinchweld flat in the same spot. If you want to disconnect the front swaybar for offroading, then you will need to get the bodylift. I run 285's on stock 16x7 tacoma wheels (same specs as 4Runner wheels).
