Is $232 a good deal for a hood scoop hood?
I have a 98 Ltd and I want the hood scoop hood like most everyone else. But I found two good places to order the factory hood scoop hoods and the price was around $232 shipped I don't know if this is a good price or not for I haven't really looked real hard just yet. Is this cheaper than the dealership? By the way these are hood scoop hoods that are already primered but not yet painted to match your 4runner. Thanks guys!

the hood from the dealer is about $300. then you need the parts and pieces to complete it - about another $150-$200...
aftermarket may work, but probably won't match up as well, will be thinner material and will dent easier, and you still have to get the other pieces and parts from the dealer anyway. you're saving ~$70 on a $700-$800 purchase (after paying for paint and installation).

Neither of these are the aftermarket hood it's OEM Part #53301-35050 and yeah I figure I would have to get the hoodliner, screws, nuts, cushions, rivets, bulge, guide, protectors, retainer, plate and I think that's it but maybe something else. But anyway I was thinking I would buy one of these OEM hood scoop hoods have it painted to match the OEM paint and I am confident I can do the install myself. And if I only save $70 than that's $70 I can put towards something else for my rig. Thanks really good info.

Yeah we already covered that you would have to get it painted and as far as it not matching very well I know a guy who does great work. But if nothing else these hoods seems like a good way to save a little money.
