22re thermostatic idle air control

Hi guys, I'm in a bit of a pickle here... my 89 toy 22re had a constant high idle and consistantly would surge, I have pinpointed the problem to being the thermostatic (cold-start) idle air control ( I had posted a thread related to this before ). If I place duct tape over the port for the idle air control, the problem is fixed. Thing is, I don't want duct tape flowing into my plenum... Any chance anyone out there has bypassed this in any way? I hear it's big bucks from the dealer, and nobody around has a throttle body or the air control for that year used. I was thinkning of jb-welding the port sealed, but I'd rather make a temorary plug, so if I find one in the future I can replace that valve. If anyone has any ideas, please let me know. Also, if anyone has experience with bypassing this, let me know how it worked, I imagine if I plug it, it's gonna be hard to start come winter time (I live in RI). Thanks again, Jeff

nothing wrong with duct tape if it is working for you... come winter, you can always pull it back off if you need to...
