I can tell you that the 22RE redlines at 5800 RPMs. The picture is kinda crappy, but you should get the idea.

If I remember right, the 22re is rated at 116hp.

But it won't be 116 at redline.

22re makes 105hp -- when you say redline, do you mean where the engine stops making more power or when the valves float. the valves float at 5800 rpm.

Sorry but that's not correct.

Here's the specs for a '90 22re:

I used to have a 1988 Pickup and remember seeing somewhere that it's 105 hp, maybe 116 lb-ft?

i can't remember if there are rules about posting from other forums, but according to 4x4wire

http://www.4x4wire.com/toyota/faq/parts/

a 89 22RE put out 112 hp.

Oh and I guess i was wrong about the 116 lb-ft.

That's the best info about it out there. I wonder what they did in '89 to get 7 more ponies out of 'em?

There's no rules about linking to other sites. Go for it.

sure it'll rev that high...it's just a matter of how long it will

a buddy of mine had the throttle stick on his '78 pickup when he was messing with it in the driveway(getting ready to sell it that night and checking that everything worked). i saw the needle on his tach hit 8000 before he could unstick the pedal
