22RE Electrical Problems
I recently bought and 88 4runner and had to replace the engine. I swapped in a 90 22re with only 150 000km on it and the install went smooth. The motor ran great and started driving it. On the first day of having it on the road it died. I was driving down the freeway when the check engine light came on and the truck died. I got it home and discovered i was getting no spak what so ever at the coil. I swapped out the coil and igniter for one from a running 22re runner and still the same problem. I checked all of my fuses and grounds and everything seems to be good. Anyone have any ideas as to why this is happening? Like I said the truck ran flawlessly otherwise. Is there and Inertia Switch in these 4runners? Im new to computers in cars and have no idea where to begin. Any help or experiences that you could share would be great.

Thanks for your help red 85. I found the problem today. The timing chain that was supposedly "new" was far from it. It was broken and therefore not running the distributor and giving me any spark. I replaced the chain with a new one and installed all the sprockets and guides in the rebuild kit. I hope someone finds this useful incase they ever run into a similar situation.
