My 85 only has one intake port and it is a tube that is located in the front left corner of the air box standing facing the engine. The tube exits the box and goes through the radiator support and has a slight down turn on it I suppose to not allow water in, there is also a factory drilled drain port on the bottom of the box.

I don't think my intake can get any better than this setup, since it's not drawing any hot engine bay air in. I am still thinking of routing everything to the passenger side one day and building a snorkel or in cab entrance for the air though.

results, little peppier and it has a nice tone on acceleration. I remember when I did it, I sat and revved the engine for a while just to listen to is suck in the air, lol. Not going to give you 15 HP if thats what your looking for

Thanks for replying, thats what iwanted to know if it would give a bit better response, what is your take on wrapping the air tube with header wrap that goes over the radiator to the airbox. Do you think it would help keep the tube cooler from say the radiator?

I say just pull the elbow out from the front of the box and either purchase a deckplate or leave it open (mines been open since I posted above..) and call it good. I don't think the radiator is going to play that large of a factor in it.
