22R Alternator Options?

After wheeling this weekend, I've killed the second altenator (water) in 8 weeks. I've heard guys have relocated the alt to the other side and used a GM altenator on bracket. I really need to get this thing higher than it is, some of the trails we run puts water over my hood and I'm on 35s.

I would like to get it up higher on the motor and wondered if anyone has done this mod?

TIA

Yep, someone did this over at Pirate4x4.com. I did it with a Powermaster 140 amp on a 22RE but in the stock location.

Go to the Toy 4Runner section of Pirate and do a search on alternator, you should see it. Guys got pics of how he did it, but no real write up, seems simple enough, though.

ETA: found the link: http://www.pirate4x4.com/forum/showt...ght=alternator

Good luck.

Al
