200k(+) miles ONLY
how many of us 3rd gens have 200k+ and what kind of repairs have you had to do? I have 223,048 miles today i bought mine with 200,000 and seller said nothing done but routine maint. i've done t-belt and water pump, i've pulled plug on trany about 6 times and toped off atf. have original plug wires and think all drive belts are original b/c they are toyota (seller warned me to stay away from dealership) this is my 4th toyota but first with over 200k i love them so much i have a emblem tatoo on my arm. what do you folks have to say about your 200k+ toyotas?

Wow, for someone who loves toyotas, its pretty much negligence to have the original belts and plug wires still on there. There are plenty of online toyota dealerships that give reasonable prices. And I think the most expensive belt is like 20$..

I think its on its 3rd t-belt and just put in its second waterpump and second clutch. I bought mine almost two years ago and it had been maintained perfectly at a Toyota dealership(I have access to the actual service records from Toyota)
Here it is a few days ago on Quadra island at Rebecca spit.

I have a 1993 Toyota Pickup Ext. 4WD V6. I've owned it since college and I liked the Yota so much I bought a brand new 2006 Tacoma DC TRD 4WD when it first came out a few years ago. My 93 cost me 10K with 99,000 miles when I bought it 2001....I didn't care at the time. I just wanted one since a good friend of mine had a 95 Tacoma in High School. It was one of those things that was always on my wish list. Anyways, the 93 Yota has always been very reliable. I put 125,000 in 4 years driving from Austin (UT) home to South Texas (600 miles round trip). I don't even want to tell you guys how much gas money I spent......but the Yota never needed anything but regular maintenance. Oil changed every 3K miles, I have had the same 32" BFG A/Ts for 6 years with regular rotations at least every 9K miles (free rotations at Discount Tire) will be needing tires soon. Replaced sprak plugs and belts at least once a year (OME plugs). Replaced timing belt and water pump twice (once I got it and again when I hit 200K). Replaced brakes, shocks and idler arm once. Had the Head Gasket and Steering Service done by Toyota free of charge. This month I am replacing the AC compressor and Drier, manual clutch, rear main seal, fuel filter, plugs, cap & rotor, wires, pvc, and will finally be adding the Rancho 5000 shocks all around. I'll post some pics once bring up to Dallas from South Texas.

A good buddy of mine called me last night as his '98 4Runner turned 6 deuces (222,222 miles) while driving down the road. Said he just had to share the moment with me.
While I do not condone it, I will say that he is still running ALL the original belts and original water pump. AC still runs strong too. He drives around 80 miles a day back and forth to work. I keep telling him to do some maint on it, but he just looks the other way. I'm just waiting on that distress call from him when he's stranded on the side of the road...

I bought my 99 with 83K miles on the clock and by the second weekend did the works on it as far as maint goes. I can't imagine going 200K+ miles and not doing anything. My buddy has a 95 camry with 225K miles and all original parts just oil changes crazy I would never do that. But it still runs awesome.
Sorry about the brief hijack but congrats on those miles I always like hearing people getting crazy amount of miles out of their cars with little $$$ into maint. BTW mine has 87K

bought mine with 27k miles in 01 and now have 206K and some change, don't have the exact mileage. But no major repairs other than starter contacts being replaced. Done all my own maintenence and upgrades, except for the timing belt change. Going to have to do the t belt and water pump sometime soon, but for now it runs like a champ.

so nobody has had any major repairs just p.m. isn't that great. my dad has a 99 tahoe w/ 260,000 miles and all he has done is a fuel pump. so change your oil and air filter and not drive it like a mad man and it will last forever.
