The Ford Ranger is still the best selling "small" pickup right? How does it compare to the new and current Tacoma? is it bigger than the current? Maybe Toyota is going after some ranger sales? and it seams obvious they are going after Dodge's sales. (Kick dodge while their down?)

Finally, everybody crapped on Toyota for their release of Scion and said it wasn't going to work with that "ugly box." Kids want high end brand name sports coupes, not ugly square "value" branded cars. Well, the xB is being sold faster than it can be delivered in most areas.

I'd say toyota has some excelent researchers. They know what they are doing. Despite what I really think of the 4runner and Tacoma growing!

I'm not of fan of the toyota growing either, but will probably purchase one due to the newer improvements.
Go to edmunds.com and look at the X-runner pictures. Interior is much better than the current truck and maybe the seats will actually be comfortable.
4.0L V6 will be much better. Curb Weight will be more, but the truck should be a tad quicker than the current '04's.
Side curtain airbags are rumored as an option, among other things, and maybe now I can get a taco with a blue paint job.

Does the 4th gen 4runners have worse gas mileage than the 3rd? From what I am hearing they are comparable because the 4.0 is more efficient. So will the 4.0 in the tacoma have worse gas mileage? In my mind they should offer both. Some people need the added horses for towing or carrying around their girlfriend.

BTW have you guys seen the scion tC? Awesome I love it. Trying to convince my girlfriend to buy it so I can drive it.

That seems to be the way it always goes as vehicles evolve over the life of a model...starts out small and bare bones, sells well, then people want bigger interiors/engines/options yadda yadda yadda so over time the vehicle barely resembles the one it started out as.

My guess is it'll have some benefits and some drawbacks. Probably evens out in the end.

If it's bigger, it won't fit as well between the Creosote and Mesquite "shrubbery" we have out here.
