Just a quick thought about the auto windows. My 2002 had auto up and down for both the passenger and driver. My 03 only has it for the driver. You guys think it would be possible to order Toyota automatic switches and replace the ones on my drivers side. This way I could control the world! OK, at least the windows. My 1995 Taco had many of the same little insignificant pieces that my 1978 Toyota Corona had. I think even the same hazard switch.

Maybe these are interchangeable? If not, could I order a 2003 auto switch (single switch)and plug it in? With ImpulseBrooklyns web site, he shows the door panels are easy to remove. Any ideas on this one? Thanks!

Actually, I too would like the passenger window to roll up/down automatically. That is one of the biggest complaints I get about my 4Runner with my friends. I am sure it is a child safety thing.

Here in Florida it is now illegal to smoke in your car anyway. (as of July 1st 2003) From what I hear if person A is driving and the passenger, person B, is smoking; a cop can pull over the car and give a ticket to the passenger! That would be funny!

That is totally untrue.

Would it be the switch, or is the auto up/down in the window motor?

Woah. I'm totally for that. Anyone up for giving it a try and letting us know?

mine does both the first 2 and has no Cancer Lighter or Lung Tray. We don't need them in our runners because we don't schmoke.

Do y'all think that the switches in the gx470 would fit in the 4Runner? I believe that all of them are auto up/down...?

I will be the first to try. I think the auto feature is in the switch, similar to the ignition. I need to find a switch now! I'll keep you posted if I have any luck.

I'd like it, but I sure would hate to remove the side planels and then have them rattle :-(

Hi guys, I just noticed that there are some differences between the V6 and V8 4Runners- as far as some features not on the V6.
For example, there are the radio controls on the steering wheel but the other side is just a blank, no controls. Also, there are no side trays on the floor of the cargo area- just all carpet. The ignition thing- i noticed on the V8 it is that electronic thing stated earlier but the V6 is just a normal ignition.

But seriously, someone tell me what that cheap, flipout plastic bin in the dash is for!!?? My wallet barely fits in there.

Hey FirstToy,

I have wondered the same thing. It is pretty much useless. The only thing I use it for is to hold my parking card for the airport parking. Other than that, nothing else fits.

Toyota could have done a little better job there.

The only map that would fit in there is a map from my front door to the driveway!

LOL, it's been forever since I opened that thing. When I was thinking about it, I thought it was deeper. I knew it was shallow. I guess if you folded your map in half it could fit. Maybe into thirds.

I'm sure people would complain about it if it were just solid, and couldn't open at all.

Just an FYI: I have a V6 with both the side trays on the floor of the cargo area and the electronic start.

As for the flip out "convenience tray." I have no clue what the heck it is. So far, I've used it to pen out a check and as a nice "drum" for when a good tune is on. That's all I got.

A member of this board gave me the idea of keeping Altoids in there... So that has become my gum and breath mint area.

I'd like to find a place that can do really nice, custom (read fabricate) stereo installs and have them remove that dish, build a frame, and install one of the Delphi XM radio controllers there.
I think it would look very nice and be the perfect place for one. Nobody around here could do it, but maybe a big city.
