2003 4Runner DRL turn off

I have seen several posts regarding this issue. Has anyone successfully turned off their DRLs?

On my 3rd gen, I just unplugged the resistor under the hood. Not too sure how the 4th gens are. Maybe something to look for though.

Someone, somewhere, said it was done via computer.

I doubt it is computer controlled, I could be wrong. This is what I notice. When the headlights are on, they are off. My guess is that if you could turn them off you would have to trick your flasher into thinking that the head lights were on. There has to be a relay that tells the flasher to flash on-off when the head lights are on as opposed to off-on when the DRLs are on.

This can not be that complicated.

Speaking of which, are the 2003 4Runner Toyota shop manuals available in print form yet? If so, can someone point me to a source. 03 Limited V6 arrives in 2 weeks.

there are no drl electical diagrams. I have vol 1&2 and looked before there is little to no reference to drls at all. THe info might be in the 4th vol but i dont know anyone with it. Chris

I'm thinking about sleeping w/ the customer service rep @ my dealership to get the info. Seriously. She's kinda cute. I know her too.

impulsebrklyn is right.. He sent me the diagrams and I had a guy look them over.

I am telling you that it is a computer controlled option. It has to be. I'm going to fight it out with the dealership a bit more (they wanted $75... if I can get it down to $40, I'll do it) and let you guys know.
